Outside The Chute sits down and chats with former Arizona Wildcat pitching star, Espy Award winner and current Arizona Assistant Coach, Taryne Mowatt-McKinney.
Taryne’s list of accompishments at U of A are extensive as she holds or shares 8 school pitching records, including wins, innings pitched and strikeouts in a season. She helped the Wildcats to back to back National Championships in 2006 and 2007 and will forever be remembered for the amazing 2007 Women’s College World Series where she pitched 60 innings with 76 strikeouts and four shutouts to take home the National title, along with the most outstanding player award. A few weeks later she would win the 2007 Female Athlete of the Year at the Espy Awards becoming the only softball player to ever pull off that feat.
We’re gonna talk to Taryne about that epic year, along with how she got started in the game, a fantastic story on how she got that amazing dress for the Espys, and now her love for coaching at U of A.
Taryne was an absolute treat to talk to and one of my favorite interviews so far.
