Outside The Chute sat down and chatted with Auburn University alum, Assistant Coach at Hampton University and current member of the Texas Smoke of the WPF, Alyssa Rivera.
Alyssa is one of those player’s that has an immense love for this game and that definitely shines through in our talk together. The native of Eagle Lake, Florida, Alyssa is a 2017 Gold Medalist for the USA Junior Women's National Team, while also winning a Bronze Medal for the Puerto Rico National Team, back in 2019. Alyssa spent 5 seasons at Auburn University, where during her time there, she became one of the most decorated hitters in program history. She is one of just six players in program history to record at least 200 career hits, 120 RBI’s and 110 runs scored. Alyssa currently is getting her experience in the coaching ranks as an assistant at Hampton University, while also signing on to play pro with the newly formed Texas Smoke of the WPF.
We’re gonna talk to Alyssa about getting her start in the game, her journey at Auburn, being able to represent two countries on the international stage, signing with the Texas Smoke and much, much more.
Alyssa was an absolute pleasure to chat with. I’m so happy she took the time out of her busy schedule to come on and chat and I’m so excited to watch her journey at the pro level get going with the Smoke.
