Episode 185 - Gerard Gallant

What an episode we have for you this week.  Not only is it the debut of our newest segment “Around the Horn” with Blair Setford and Kyle Smith, but Hopey and I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with 12 year NHL veteran, 2018 NHL Coach of the Year with the Vegas Golden Knights and a 13-year member of the Summerside Twins Senior Men’s Team, it’s the one and only, Gerard Gallant.
Man, to say this was a special episode would be an understatement.  Those who know me, know I’m a massive hockey fan, especially when it comes to the 80’s and 90’s of the NHL and the fact we got to chat with Turk was amazing.
We talk to Turk about where his nickname came from, his days with the Summerside Twins in the 80’s and 90’s, host the Senior Nats in 1986 at Queen Elizabeth Park, some awesome stories from his time in the NHL and so much more.

Episode 184 - Bella Dayton

Outside The Chute sat down and chatted with University of Texas Alum, current Italian National Team Member and current member of the AUSL Bandits, it’s the one and only, Bella Dayton.
Bella had a remarkable college career, which started at Arizona with the Wildcats, before finishing up with the Longhorns in Texas where she was a 2 time Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team recipient and also named to the 2022 Women’s College World Series All-Tournament team.  She was also named to the All-World Team at last years WBSC Women’s World Cup while competing with Italy.
We’re gonna talk to Bella about getting her start in the game, the move from Arizona to Texas, her experience at the WCWS, playing internationally, getting drafted into the AUSL and so much more.
Bella was an absolute pleasure to chat with and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her down the line.

Episode 183 - Morgan Howe

Outside The Chute sat down with one of our favorites ever.  She was a 2019 First Team All-American with the Arizona State Sun Devils, the 2023 WPF Offensive Player of the Year, as well as a back to back WPF Champ with the Texas Smoke, it’s the one and only, Morgan Howe.
Last time we chatted with Mo, she had just finished up her first year at AU and a lot has gone down since that talk 4 years ago.  After one more season of AU, she moved on to the Vipers for a year before finding a home with the Smoke where she has flourished under the ownership group of former Major League All-star, Brandon Phillips and his wife, WWE Superstar, Jade Cargill.  Mo also just got back from a stint down in the Mexican league, where we have a chat about how great the atmosphere is down there and how much that league has grown in 2 short years.
This episode may have topped our first chat, as it is definitely a free for all and nothing is held back.

Outside The Chute sat down and chatted with 5 time ISC All-World selection, the 2021 Leroy Zimmerman Most Outstanding Pitcher and 2015 WBSC World Cup Gold Medalist with Team Canada, the one and only, Devon McCullough.
We’re gonna talk to Devo about getting his start in the game in his hometown of Saskatoon, his crazy run at the Midget Nationals, which I still can’t get over, of course, his time with the National Team and that epic 2015 WBSC win on hometown soil and so much more.

Outside The Chute sat down and chatted with 2 time Pac-12 Player of the year and 2 time All-American with the UCLA Bruins, Pan Am Games Gold Medalist and Olympic Silver Medalist with Team USA, and current member with Team Honda in the Japanese Professional League, the one and only, Ally Carda.
What a career Ally has had so far and she is still going strong!
We’re gonna talk to Ally about getting her start in the game, the journey to UCLA, almost giving up on the game, turning pro, playing in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and so much more.

Episode 180 - Jordan Pomeroy

Outside The Chute had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Newfoundland native, the one and only, Jordan Pomeroy.
Poms has had a fantastic career and he’s just getting started. He is a 3 time Canadian Senior Men’s Champ with the Galway Hitmen, the 2021 Rawlings Grand Slam Most Valuable Player and is currently a member of the Canadian Men’s National Team.
We’re gonna talk to Pom’s about getting his start in the game, playing in the 2017 Canada Games and then attending his first Senior Nats a few weeks later at 17, that epic catch he made with Bear Creek that went viral, representing his country and much, much more.

Episode 179 - Ella Kate "EK" Smith

Outside The Chute sat down and chatted with Extra Innings #3 ranked player for the Class of 2026, she is a member of this year’s US U18 Women’s National Team and she is an Oklahoma Sooners commit, the one and only, EK, Ella Kate Smith.
I said this back in November of 2023 when we had Lexi McDaniel on and I’ll say it again.  The rich keep getting richer lol.  The powerhouse Oklahoma Sooners have another gem on their hands with EK, as they have a dual threat player that can do it on the mound and in the batter’s box as well.
We’re gonna talk to EK about getting her start in the game back in Kansas, her time with Impact Gold and Katy High, where there are high hopes still in the future for EK and these two teams, her crazy recruiting process and so much more.
I’m telling you right now, the Sooners have a media darling in store for them when she arrives in Norman.  EK was such a pleasure to chat with and we can’t wait to see what the future brings for this amazing individual, both on and off the diamond.

Outside The Chute had the pleasure of sitting down with, 4 time ISC World Champion, he was a 2021 ISC All World selection, 2012 ISF Junior Men’s Gold Medalist and 2019 WBSC World Cup Champion with Argentina, the one and only, Pablo Migliavacca.
We talk to Pablo about how he got his start in the game, the 2012 ISF Juniors and him and Argentina winning on home soil, the epic WBSC World Cup win in 2019, 4 ISC World titles and much, much more.
